Suggestions for Bible Reading

How do I read the Bible?

Bible Gateway has a number of different plans for reading a bit of the Bible each day, including plans to read the bible in chronological order in which the events of the Bible happened; a plan to read the New Testament in a year, and the Gospels in 40 Days. A word of caution, you are likely to find it hard work if you choose the plan which starts at Genesis and ends in Revelation, or one which takes you through the bible in the order it was written. Much better to choose the plan which helps you read the bible in the order the events occurred.

There are similar plans at: https://www.biblegateway.com/reading-plans/

including one to read the whole bible over 2 years, rather than 1 year, if that feels more manageable.

Explanatory Notes

Attached as sub pages below are 2 documents. The Guidance on Spiritual Communion explains the thinking and tradition behind the priest celebrating Communion on behalf of others. It also includes some prayers. The Act of Spiritual Communion is produced by the Society of Catholic Priests and won't be to everyone's taste, but is offered for those who will find it helpful.

As in many rural and village churches, the people of the Cross Country Parishes come from a wide variety of Christian traditions and backgrounds. If some of what is offered is not helpful, ignore it, but please use anything which might be useful in helping you to sustain your faith in this challenging time.
