Thy Kingdom Come

Dear Christian Friends,

You may remember that some years ago the Archbishop's of Canterbury and York made a call to prayer between Ascension Day and Pentecost.  This has now become an annual and global event.

I am inviting you to take part in Thy Kingdom Come this year, beginning on Ascension Day (Thursday this week) and ending on Pentecost Sunday (31 May).  There are a number of ways in which you can do this.
  1. I suggest that we join '.apart' in saying The Lord's Prayer at 12 Noon each day from Ascension Day (Thursday 21 May) until Pentecost (Sunday 31 May).
  • On Thursday, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, together with Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church in England, invite us to join with them in prayer between 10.30 and 11.00 am via a webinair as they pray for the Holy Spirit to be poured out on the world in love, peace and joy.  To join in the webinair you need to register in advance at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tkc-prayer-w-archbishops-of-canterbury-and-york-cardinal-vincent-nichols-registration-105776131256

  • Attached are 2 sets of prayers, readings and reflection for each day.  1 is produced by the Church of England, and one by the Methodist Church (choose whichever suits you, personally I think the Methodist one is more attractive and accessible, which is why I've included it.)
This is a unique opportunity to join together in prayer, not just in our churches, but with Christians across the world, praying  that the Holy Spirit will come in love, joy and peace on all who search for meaning and that the love of God which has been made known in Jesus to many people.

In Christian love,

Anne
